Upon arrival in Marrakech, the jewel of the south, you will meet your driver/guide in the airport of Marrakech and start your 6 Days Morocco Tour Jewish Heritage From Marrakech, transfer to your Hotel/Riad, where you will check-in and freshen up from travels. Visit Jemaa el-Fna Square at night and entertain with the magicians, story tellers, henna makers and fortune tellers. You will have the option to eat dinner here or can be served in your accommodation.
After breakfast, you will have a guided tour of Marrakech, the southern jewel of Morocco. You will discover the Majorel garden, the Bahia palace, the Jewish section called Mellah to explore the Salat Al Azama Synagouge built in 1492. Then, you head to the only Jewish Miara Cemetry and many other hidden treasures. After lunch, you will continue with the tour on the magnificent Koutoubia Mosque and return again to the Jemaa el-Fna. The tour will conclude with an exploration of the Souk ( marketplace) of Marrakech. Dinner will be served at a local restaurant or near the big square.
On the 3rd day of your 6 Days Morocco Tour Jewish Heritage From Marrakech you will head to the Ourika valley located in the stunning lush green foothills of the impressive High Atlas Mountain to visit a local Berber family and share mint tea with them. Here, you will visit the Shrine of Rabbi Haim Ben Diwan. On the way back to Marrakech, stop at the village of Amizmiz where Rabbi Raphael Hacohen is buried. Overnight in a local Hotel/Riad.
After breakfast, we drive towards the Atlantic ocean to explore Essaouira that boasts a captivating Jewish History for Jewish and non-Jewish travelers. With a total population that once peaked at 70,000, in the 1700's, there are fewer then 25 Jews in Essaouira today. Stroll through the old medina and its ramparts starting with the Jewish Synagogue & Mellah to see the shrine of Rabbi Chaim Pinto. Afterwards, you head to the Jewish Cemetery with The oldest tombs date from 1776. Admire the beach, the port, the Skala and its cannons. Overnight in Essaouira.
After breakfast, your last day of travel will take to Casablanca. So, you will leave Essaouira for Casablanca with a stop at El Oualidia on the way. We drive along the coastline to El Jadida where you visit the citadel and see the underground cistern. We continue on to Casablanca, where you spend last night in the country. Dinner will be served in the hotel. Overnight at Hotel.
After breakfast, you start your exploration of Casablanca as a home to the largest Jewish community in Morocco and has numerous congregations, active communal institutions, and many highly recommended kosher restaurants. Then, visit of the Mellah (Jewish Quarter) with its temples and synagogues such as Beth-El, Em Habanim and Neve Shalom. After, you will be taken to the Airport in Marrakech for your flight departure.
