Essaouira is a small resort city located on Morocco’s Atlantic coast. Its medina (old town) is protected by 18th-century seafront ramparts called the Skala de la Kasbah, which were designed by European engineers. Old brass cannons line the walls, and there are ocean views. Strong “Alizée” trade winds make the city’s crescent beach popular for surfing, windsurfing and kitesurfing.
Ourika Valley, one of the most beautifull lush valleys in Morocco, due to its many waterfalls and several attractions, is a very popular day trip from Marrakesh. The Berber people inhabit this region, they practice different traditional ways of life. Despite its proximity to Marrakesh, it is still considered relatively “unspoiled”.
